Learning Objectives
To be selected for this course a learner should be able to…
- Complete Step 2 of CYF Introduction to Programming or JS3 of the pre-2025 SDC
- Reliably attend classes in person
You must be an enrolled Trainee or unemployed grad to attend this course. You must attend in person. There is no online option. Help with travel expenses, childcare, and equipment is available. You must be eligible and enrolled as a Trainee.

You must apply to join this track. If you meet the eligibility criteria, you will be invited to join the next run of this track. CYF will run this track six times in 2025 and six times in 2026. This track is delivered in partnership with the Centre for Public Impact Google.org AI Opportunity Fund: Europe. You can find the dates on the Global Calendar and this spreadsheet of all courses.
You will receive an email within two weeks of your application. If you are accepted, you will receive an enrollment email. If you are not accepted, you will receive an email explaining why.

Learning Objectives
Welcome to AI Essentials.
Your goal is to complete the modules and workshops of the Google AI Essentials course, and use the skills you have learned in this to complete the CYF Roles Project. So your subgoals are to:
- π― Complete the coursework and videos included in the Coursera course
- π― Attend the in person workshops delivered by our partners, Quadmark for the Centre for Public Impact
- π― Use the skills you have learned to complete the CYF Roles Project
Our goal is to find people who are ready to work in professional office roles as soon as we can find them. This doesn’t mean we have a bucket of jobs to hand out ourselves, this just means we want a portfolio of good candidates to take to potential employers. This means we are looking for people ready to begin working within the next 6 weeks. This is why we are looking at your ability to:
- π― Work in a team to deliver work at pace.
- π― Handle tasks and take responsibility for project delivery.
- π― Explain your work to others in English.
These are the core goals of this track.

Learning Objectives
Trainees, we expect you to:
- Work in groups and individually, in class and during the week.
- Show up on time and participate in all activities, including helping others.
- Complete the work in the way it is specified.
- Do your best.
Trainees, you can expect:
- Your team to work with you to complete team work.
- A fair assessment, explained clearly.
- Help from volunteers and other candidates with your questions and blockers.
We expect everyone to:
- Follow the Code of Conduct.
- Help each other.
- Do the prep.
